Foundation
Make Equal Foundation is the catalyst for equality in Sweden. We were founded in 2010 by Ida Östensson, who was tired of conversations about injustice often stopping at the problems and never moving on to the HOW – the solutions. Our work is about creating concrete tools, movements and initiatives that make a real difference.
Our efforts include the Fatta movement, which pushed for the Swedish Consent Act and was so successful that we set up our own association to carry on the work. The Online Hate Helpline, which we developed to support victims of online hate, was still attracting over 10,000 visitors a month after five years without any marketing – before we handed it over to the Prince and Princess Foundation. The Guy Dinner movement, which evolved into Global Guytalk with its conversations about masculinity and emotions, has now spread across the world. And these are just a few examples of what we have done.
At Make Equal, we identify gaps that others miss and drive the work forward until the initiatives find their right long-term homes. We build equality, one solution at a time.
